However, in reality, recurring ecological disasters such as the floods in Aceh–Sumatra reveal a significant gap between these theological ideals and actual environmental practices. This study aims to analyze the Aceh–Sumatra flood phenomenon through the lens of ecotheology in Islamic philosophy, examining how religious values can serve as a moral framework for understanding and responding to ecological crises. This research employs a qualitative library-based method using textual–philosophical analysis of Qur’anic ecological verses, works of classical and contemporary Muslim philosophers, and scientific literature on ecology and disaster studies. The findings indicate that ecological disasters arise not only from natural or structural factors but also from a moral crisis rooted in the disrupted human–nature relationship caused by weak internalization of Islamic ethical values. This study highlights the urgency of integrating Islamic environmental ethics into policy-making and disaster mitigation strategies to reinforce ecological balance and foster spiritual awareness within society.
Fitri Idani Ismail Fahmi Arrauf Nasution Copyright (c) 2026 Al-Widad https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-07-04 2026-07-04 5 2 1 20 10.58405/aw.v5i2.77 Ontologi Tuhan dan Kosmologi dalam Filsafat Peripatetik Islam: Komparasi Pemikiran Al-Farabi dan Ibnu Sina https://jurnal.raudhatunajah.com/index.php/widad/article/view/92
Ideally, studies on the ontology of God and cosmology in Islamic Peripatetic philosophy should explain the conceptual continuity between the philosophical systems of Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina as an integrated intellectual tradition. In reality, however, most previous studies have examined these two philosophers separately or focused only on specific concepts without comprehensively analyzing the ontological and cosmological relationship between God and the universe. This study aims to comparatively examine the concepts of God and the cosmos in the thought of Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina and to explore their contributions to the development of Islamic metaphysics. This research employs a qualitative library research approach using comparative philosophical analysis. The primary data are derived from the original works of both philosophers, supported by relevant scholarly literature, and analyzed through content analysis and comparative analysis. The findings reveal that both philosophers share the same metaphysical foundation by positioning God as the First Being and the ultimate source of all existence, while differing in their philosophical orientation. Al-Farabi emphasizes the cosmological structure through the concept of al-Mawjūd al-Awwal, whereas Ibn Sina develops a more systematic ontology through the concept of Wājib al-Wujūd. These differences reflect the internal evolution of Islamic Peripatetic philosophy, culminating in a more comprehensive metaphysical system grounded in the principle of tawḥīd.
Rini Lismeiliani Lukman Hakim Copyright (c) 2026 Al-Widad https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-07-04 2026-07-04 5 2 21 38 10.58405/aw.v5i2.92 Eksistensi Jiwa Sebagai Fondasi Kesehatan Mental: Membaca Kembali Filsafat Islam https://jurnal.raudhatunajah.com/index.php/widad/article/view/89
The advancement of science, technology, and digitalization has brought various conveniences that are expected to improve human quality of life, including mental health. Such progress should contribute to a balance between material well-being and inner peace. However, contemporary society is witnessing an increasing prevalence of mental health problems, including stress, anxiety, depression, and a crisis of meaning. This phenomenon indicates that mental health approaches focusing primarily on biological and psychological dimensions have not fully addressed the spiritual needs of human beings. This article aims to re-examine the concept of the soul from the perspective of Islamic philosophy, analyze its relationship with contemporary mental health crises, and explain the relevance of spiritual approaches in promoting sustainable mental well-being. This study employs a library research design using a qualitative-philosophical approach. Data were collected from the works of Muslim philosophers and relevant scholarly literature and were analyzed through content analysis and critical interpretation. The findings reveal that the concept of the soul in Islamic philosophy provides a significant framework for understanding the roots of modern mental health crises, which stem from the imbalance between material and spiritual needs. The cultivation of the soul through self-discipline, purification of the heart, moral development, and Sufi practices contributes to inner tranquility, psychological resilience, and a meaningful life.
Ernita Dewi Copyright (c) 2026 Al-Widad https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-07-07 2026-07-07 5 2 39 58 10.58405/aw.v5i2.89
